Es wurde eine Meta-Analyse über Studien zur Magnetfeld-Exposition im Wohnumfeld und Gehirn-Krebs im Kindesalter durchgeführt, um die Homogenität der Ergebnisse zu bewerten und um einen gemeinsamen Effekt-Schätzer zu erzielen. Desweiteren sollte die Möglichkeit eines Selektionsbias in den Kinderleukämie-Studien durch Vergleich der Ergebnisse aus Studien zu Leukämie und Hirntumor im Kindesalter eingeschätzt werden.
Es wurden 13 Studien in die Meta-Analyse eingeschlossen: 7 Studien wurden in Europa (Feychting et al (1993), Olsen et al. (1993), Verkasalo et al. (1993), Tynes et al. (1997), UK Childhood Cancer Study Investigators (1999), Schüz et al. (2001), Draper et al. (2005)), 4 in den USA ( Wertheimer et al. (1979), Savitz et al. (1988), Gurney et al. (1996), Preston-Martin et al. (1996)) und 2 Studien in Asien (Lin, Abstract in Englisch und Dissertation in Chinesisch (1989) und Saito, präsentiert auf einem internationalem Symposium (2003)) durchgeführt.
