Insgesamt wurde ein leicht erhöhtes Risiko für amyotrophe Lateralsklerose bei Beschäftigten mit einer Exposition bei niederfrequenten Magnetfeldern (RR 1,23; KI 1,04-1,45) und bei Beschäftigten in elektrischen Berufen (RR 1,16; KI 1,00-1,35) beobachtet. Eine Analyse des Zeitraums 1991-2015, in der die Ergebnisse der früheren Studien schrittweise kumuliert wurden, zeigte eine fortschreitende Verminderung des Risikos auf. Für den Zeitraum 1991-2005 wurde ein höheres Risiko (RR 1,33; KI 1,33-1,58) im Vergleich zum Zeitraum 2006-2015 (RR 1,18; KI 1,07-1,31) gefunden.
Die Autoren schlussfolgern, dass die Ergebnisse auf einen möglichen Zusammenhang zwischen amyotropher Lateralsklerose und beruflicher Exposition bei niederfrequenten Magnetfeldern hindeuten.
