Chemistry. A chemical bond formed between a hydrogen atom and an electronegative atom (e.g., nitrogen, oxygen, or fluorine) in the same or another molecule. Hydrogen bonds are weaker than covalent and ionic bonds. They are involved in forming DNA double helix and three-dimensional structures of proteins.
