To examine the impact of mobile phone exposure on the effectiveness of a homeopathical drug solution (thyroxine D30).
The authors introduced an amphibian-model where thyroxine D30 (dilution 1:1030) exerts an inhibitory effect on thyroxine-induced accelerated metamorphosis.
Thyroxine D30 and water D30 (test solution) were exposed to a mobile phone. Four groups (each group 20 tadpoles: highland frogs, Rana temporaria) were hyperstimulated (=experimental acceleration of growth through molecular thyroxine) in thyroxine-baths. Thyroxine 30 and water 30 were added.

Setup | The solutions in small glass flasks were placed beside the display of the mobile phone. Some flasks were wrapped in metal foil. |
Additional info | A call setup was performed by dialling a number, and the phone was set to stand-by after 20 s. This was repeated five times. |
Measurand | Value | Type | Method | Mass | Remarks |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
power density | 339 nW/m² | maximum | measured | - | call setup |
power density | 300 nW/m² | maximum | measured | - | stand-by |
SAR | 0.8 W/kg | average over time | measured | - | 6 min |
Hyperstimulated animals, that were treated with thyroxine D30 metamorphosed significantly slower than the water D30 treated animals (control group). The values of the group that was treated with the exposed thyroxine D30 revealed no differences compared to the water D30 treated animals (control group).
The effectiveness of the homeopathic solution was inhibited, when it was exposed to a mobile phone.
