An article which collects and evaluates the results of other studies with a precisely described objective. An article is assigned to the column review only if it describes in which way literature was researched and collected, if the references included are listed in detail and if the considered articles are compared with one another. In the sense of the EMF portal a review is always a comparative literature survey and/or a review of previously conducted and published studies. If any of the criteria specified above are not met, a general overview article is considered a survey.
