UMTS-downlink channel used for cell search
Communications engineering. The S-SCH consists of a repeating synchronization code sequence that has a length of 15 slots, consisting of modulated codes, each 256 chips long. It indicates to which of the code groups the cell's downlink scrambling code belongs and the mobile phone can achieve frame synchronization. See also: P-SCH, CPICH and P-CCPCH.
