Neurophysiology. A technique to measure event-related changes of energy in different EEG frequency bands as an important indicator of the underlying brain processes.
Desynchronisation is a decrease of power in certain frequency bands, particularly in alpha waves, and connected with sensory processing and motor behaviour. The following increase in power after the event was named event related synchronisation. ERD/ERS is a within-subject measure of relative changes in power between two experimental conditions.
