Behaviourism. A method to reinforce operant behaviour. A schedule of reinforcement is the response requirement that must be met in order to obtain reinforcement (e.g., food or social attention). The two basic types are ratio and interval schedules which are further divided into fixed and variable. See also fixed-ratio schedule, variable interval schedule, fixed-interval schedule, and differential reinforcement of low rates of responding (DLR schedule).
