Physiology. Acoustic signals that are generated by the cochlea of the inner ear and can be recorded by a microphone placed in the ear canal.
There are two categories: spontaneous otoacoustic emissions (SOAE) occuring in absence of acoustic stimulation, and evoked otoacoustic emissions (EOAE) occurring in response to acoustic stimulation. The last one is further divided into DPOAE (two pure tones) and TEOAE (one click).
