Communications engineering. A global mobile phone system of 66 satellites that offer global communications. The satellites are LEOs (Low Earth Orbiting Satellites) at an altitude of 780 km. Following frequency bands are used: telefone and messaging service links L-band 1616 - 1626.5 MHz, intersatellite links Ka-band 23.18 - 23.38 GHz, ground segment links downlinks Ka-band 19.4 - 19.6 GHz and uplinks Ka-band 29.1 - 29.3 GHz.
