Communications transmission engineering. A form of multiplexing that permits simultaneous use of a single channel by a number of users. CDMA uses a spread spectrum technique to spread the data stream over the full bandwidth of the channel. It assigns a code to each individual data stream so that multiple streams can be overlaid, then separated and decoded at the receiving end.
