Communications engineering. A type of amplitude modulation where the carrier signal is sinusoidal and the modulating signal is digital. The modulation of the carrier signal with the digital modulation signal results in so called bursts (data packets) which change in the rhythm of the modulation signal. The frequency of the carrier signal is constant, only the amplitude height changes.
