Cell biology. Abbr. NDI. Indication of the vitality of a cell culture undergoing genotoxic treatment. The proportion of binucleated cells in all cells is calculated. The value of NDI lies between 1 and 2.
NDI = (number of mononucleate cells + 2*number of binucleate cells + 3*number of trinucleate cells + 4*numbers of cells with 4 nuclei) divided by the number of all cells.
