Analytical Chemistry. A mass spectrometric technique that is used for the analysis of biomolecules with molecular weight over 300,000 Dalton. Analyte molecules are embedded in a matrix and are ionized by laser. Because almost no fragmentation occurs this technique is well suited for molecular weight determination and mixture analysis.
