Pharmakology. 5-iodo-2'-deoxyuridine. An analog of deoxyuridine that inhibits the replication of viral DNA (antimetabolite of the nucleic acid synthesis). It is used in the treatment of Herpes simplex and Varicella zoster infections as an antiviral agent.
