Cell biology. Nuclei, separate from and additional to the main nucleus of a cell, produced during the telophase of mitosis or meiosis by chromosome fragments derived from spontaneous or experimentally induced chromosomal structural changes. This concept also includes the smaller, reproductive nuclei found in multinucleate protozoans.
