The effects of exposure of soybean seeds to a static magnetic field or 50 Hz magnetic field and algal extract on the germination ability should be investigated.
The soybean seeds (Glycine max) were divided into the following groups (n=100, each): 1) exposure to 50 Hz magnetic field for 1 minute, 2) for 2.5 minutes, 3) for 5 minutes, 4) 50 Hz magnetic field control group, 5) exposure to static magnetic field for 3 minutes, 6) for 6 minutes, 7) for 12 minutes, and 8) static magnetic field control group. In addition, all groups were tested with the addition of a 10% algal extract of Cladophora glomerata. The seedlings were examined 8 days after exposure. The experiment was repeated four times.

There were no significant differences between the exposure groups and respective control groups. However, the highest increase in germination and chlorophyll content compared to control groups was found in seedlings exposed to static magnetic field for 3 min (group 5) applied together with the algal extract and in seedlings exposed to the 50 Hz magnetic field used for 2.5 min (group 2).
The authors conclude that exposure of soybean seeds to a static magnetic field or 50 Hz magnetic field and algal extract could be beneficial for the germination.
